School’s Out Forever – Colmor, New Mexico

Long exposure photograph of an abandoned school in the ghost town of Colmor, New Mexico. The insides had reportedly burned in a fire at some point and all that was left were piles of bricks and concrete that were tough to maneuver in winter boots and moonlight. There was a small gym in the northeast corner, just big enough to hold less than a dozen elementary school kids for a pickup game of basketball. The simplicity struck me. I compared the outer walls that have held steady for over a century to the decimation of the small American town from progress that I could literally hear to the west with its steady hum of Amazon semitrucks.
